  • It is the company’s best January ever
  • It represents 16% growth on January 2017, which is in line with the increase in capacity

  • The biggest percentage growth was on flights to the Azores and Madeira, North America and Brazil
  • The best load factor - 90.2% - was on routes from Brazil

By carrying a total of 1,115,000 passengers, TAP has, for the first time in its history, carried more than one million passengers in the month of January, which means that during the first month of 2018 the company has maintained the growth recorded during the previous year.

The number of passengers carried is up 16% on January 2017, which is in line with the increased capacity, and which has also enabled the company to record its best ever load factor on flights during the first month of the year, with 79% of available seats occupied.

The routes showing the biggest percentage growth in January were those to the islands (connections to Madeira and the Azores), which were up 35%, those flying over the North Atlantic (United States and Canada), up 22%, and, the last of the TOP3, routes to Brazil, which grew by 17%.

The biggest load factor was on flights from Brazil, where 90.2 of available seats were occupied; however, the biggest growth in load factor - 11.4 percentage points - was recorded on flights to Madeira and the Azores.

For the first time in the month of January, TAP carried more than 50,000 passengers on flights between Lisbon and Funchal (54,000 - 13,000 more than January 2017) and more than 10,000 on connections between Lisbon and Ponta Delgada (12,000 - 4,600 more than in January 2017).

In January 2018, TAP carried 32,000 people between Lisbon and São Paulo - the greatest volume of passengers in absolute terms that the company has carried between these two cities.
