Germania and Air Europa co-operate to offer more destinations for all

image
10 March, 2016

From 1st of April, Germania’s passengers can look forward to even more exciting destinations. With immediate effect, the airline, which is headquartered in Berlin, is co-operating with Spanish carrier Air Europa.  This means that Germania is extending its network to include many more Spanish destinations, while Germany becomes an even more appealing and easy to reach destination for Air Europa’s customers.

This co-operation will enable Germania to offer flights to cities such as Madrid and Barcelona, as well as to destinations such as Granada, Alicante, Ibiza and Menorca, which are easily accessible with a brief stopover in Palma de Mallorca.   Passengers throughout Germany do not, therefore, have to travel long distances to reach major airports that connect with specific destinations.  Thanks to the co-operation with Air Europa, even smaller regional airports offer connections to more destinations.  A further advantage for travellers is that luggage is checked at the departure point and collected upon arrival at the final destination. Passengers will also receive their boarding cards for the connecting flight at the Germania check-in desk.

Karsten Balke, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Germania says:

“Germania’s collaboration with renowned airline Air Europa provides us with an opportunity to significantly increase our portfolio of holiday destinations.  In addition to a larger number of destinations on the Spanish mainland, passengers will also be able to travel to places such as Madrid and Barcelona using a Germania ticket.”

The bilateral interline agreement marks the start of a more extensive co-operation between Germania and Air Europa.  There are future plans to work together at the hub airport in Madrid from where Air Europa offers a large network of destinations in North, Central and South America.

In addition, a joint codeshare system is being developed over the coming months, which will offer passengers even further advantages.

Alvaro Middelmann, advisor to the president of Air Europa, says:

“For Air Europa it is a pleasure to start this business relationship with Germania as it will allow us to enhance our hub. We expect that this relationship has continuity and that translates into significant benefits for customers of both airlines, who will enjoy better connectivity to different destinations.”
