New African destinations
Air Mauritius is expanding its network by launching direct flights to Maputo and Dar es Salaam on 04th and 06th May 2016 respectively. These flights will use the Mauritian hub to feed the Air Corridor that links Mauritius and Singapore. Air Mauritius will have a total of 26 weekly flights to Africa following the addition of the two new destinations. The airline now has 17 flights to Johannesburg, 3 to Cape Town, 3 to Durban and 3 to Nairobi each week.
“African economies have shown remarkable resilience to the global crisis. Their growth rates have been consistently higher than the global average. The expansion of our network on the African continent is a step to address the need for more air connectivity. These new flights will contribute in feeding the Air Corridor that links Africa and Asia via the hubs of Mauritius and Singapore”, says Megh Pillay, CEO of Air Mauritius.
Air Mauritius is the national carrier of the Republic of Mauritius. Created in 1967, it currently operates a fleet of four A340-300, two A340-300E, two A330-200, two A319-100 and two ATR72-500. Air Mauritius presently flies to twenty-one destinations in Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and the Indian Ocean.
