image
2 September, 2012

Taking into account more people travelling between Sri Lanka and India, SriLankan Airlines is adding three more flights between Colombo and Trivandrum bringing the total to 10 flights a week, effective from August 30th.

India has always remained a key market for the airline and a top revenue contributor.  The geographical placement of Sri Lanka has given the airline an edge over other international carriers in serving the Indian market. Colombo acts as a regional hub for the airline in facilitating traffic to and from India to the rest of the network. The past few years indicate a growing trend in trade activity between the two countries. India is one of Sri Lanka’s largest export destinations and is the top importer to the island. As a result, an increase in traffic to and from India can also be expected.

Trivandrum being the commercial hub of Kerala is the second Indian destination to receive a boost in frequency this year. In the month of May this year, Sri Lankan increased its weekly flights twice daily to Kochi. SriLankan maintains an impressive and ever-growing flight frequency to 7 Indian destinations. The airline currently operates a total, 87 flights a week to Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Kochi, Mumbai, Trichy and Trivandrum, with the addition of the new flights. Therefore, for travel into India and beyond, SriLankan is the choice carrier.

The airline’s full network spans 58 destinations in 33 countries worldwide in Europe, North America, Canada, India, the Far East and Middle East.
