TAL Aviation is entrusted as General Sales Agent for Icelandair in Bulgaria
Icelandair entrusts TAL Aviation as its General Sales Agent in an additional territory – Bulgaria. The added territory of Bulgaria will bring new opportunities for Bulgarians wishing to travel to Iceland to experience the local tourist attractions such as the Northern Lights and the Blue Lagoon as well as visiting neighbouring Greenland. TAL Aviation and Icelandair have been working closely together for some years, with the representation of Icelandair in Romania.
Icelandair's business strategy is based on the geographical position of Iceland, midway between North Europe and the eastern coast of the USA. By uniting on one aircraft, passengers traveling to and from Iceland, with passengers crossing the Atlantic via Iceland, Icelandair has expanded and reinforced its network continuously over the last decades. Icelandair connects 27 gateways in Europe with 16 gateways in North America, through Iceland as a hub. The network is based on 24-hour rotation, with connecting flights leaving Iceland in the mornings and afternoons.
In the spring of 2016 two B767-300 aircraft with seating capacities of 260 passengers will be added to the fleet. These aircraft are larger than the aircraft operated by the Company to date, as the B757-200 aircraft currently in use have a seating capacity of 183 passengers. The high passenger load factor on many of the Company's routes year-round, in addition to limits on slot availability at some airports, makes the introduction of larger aircraft a feasible option.
The new aircraft will enlarge the fleet and improve both flexibility and the potential for further growth. Their range will permit them to fly to destinations in North America and Europe, opening new possibilities for increased flight frequency and an increased number of destinations, particularly in the wintertime, which will reduce the seasonal fluctuations in the Company's operations.
