Updates from American Airlines - January 2015

image
25 January, 2015

We're happy to bring you the latest American Update, a collection of recent news important to you and your travellers. In this Update, we're excited to tell you how your travellers can earn even more miles on American and remind you about our expanding global network.

Loyalty updates

Last month, we announced a $2 billion investment in your travellers' connectivity, productivity and comfort. Now we're making their loyalty more rewarding. Your travellers can now earn even more AAdvantage® miles or Dividend Miles® when they fly on a purchased First or Business Class ticket through December 31, 2015. The bonus miles are on top of miles they'll already earn for distance flown, the fare purchased and any elite status held.

Network updates

American to offer Birmingham and Edinburgh to New York JFK and Frankfurt to Miami services
Your travellers will soon have more choice from the U.K. when we add Birmingham (BHX) to our network. New daily service to New York JFK is scheduled to begin May 7, 2015. Further, we are excited to offer service from Edinburgh (EDI) to New York JFK (JFK) from May 8, 2015.

Both these routes will be on Boeing 757 aircraft. BHX will be the fifth destination for American in the United Kingdom and from JFK, customers can access over 30 destinations across North and South America and the Caribbean.

Additionally, we will launch new seasonal daily service between Frankfurt (FRA) and Miami International (MIA) beginning May 14, 2015 on Boeing 767‑300 aircraft. Our MIA hub provides your travellers convenient connections to more than 130 domestic destinations and international markets in Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

Both flights are now available for booking.

American to offer second daily flights to Los Angeles and Philadelphia

American will give your travellers another choice for transatlantic travel when new daily daytime service to Los Angeles (LAX) and Philadelphia (PHL) from London Heathrow (LHR) launch at the end of March.

Admirals Club® lounges are available in London, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. Additionally, First Class, Business Class and AAdvantage Executive Platinum and Dividend Miles Chairman's Preferred customers are invited to relax in the American London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge located in Terminal 3.

Check in quickly and easily with self-service tagging at London Heathrow Airport

Great news! Self-tagging is now available at London Heathrow Airport (LHR). Self-tagging helps customers save time by letting them print their own boarding passes and bag tags from several self-service kiosks and placing them directly on their luggage.

London Heathrow is the first European airport to offer this convenience on an American Airlines flight

Self-tagging is easy! Customers just need to follow the steps below:

Step 1: Print their boarding passes and bag tags at the self-service kiosk.

Step 2: Attach the bag tag to each checked bag.

Step 3: Bring their self-tagged baggage to the designated drop-off location after answering some short security questions
