A Satisfactory Performance by Air Greenland
The Air Greenland Group secured a profit for 2014 of DKK 80,7 million before taxes. The net profit after taxes amounted to DKK 52,7million. The Board considers the annual result satisfactory.
As expected, the market for route traffic in 2014 did not show any growth which is why Air Greenland last year focused the Company’s efforts on cost efficiency and the development of tourism. The profits achieved for 2014 were positively influenced by an increase in the activity on the charter market with the Company-owned Airbus A330-200, which normally operates the transatlantic flights.
In 2014, Air Greenland took the final decision of streamlining the fixed-wing part of the fleet with the addition of two more Dash 8’s. This permitted the sale of a Dash 7, an aircraft which has served the Company for more than 35 years.
The modernization of the fleet is a significant step towards ensuring the company's continued competitiveness.
Company revenue has fallen by DKK ten million, while the result of the ordinary operation was level to 2013.
- Chairman of the Board, Mr. Jens Wittrup-Willumsen issued the following comment: “Air Greenland has delivered a satisfactory result in a difficult market. The result has been achieved in part by constant vigilance by management and staff to reduce overall costs for the benefit of our customers in Greenland as well as abroad.”
- The development of the Tourist Sector in Greenland is of great importance for Air Greenland. Which is why we work targeted on increasing the number of tourist’s, i.a. through competitive vacation packages. But we’re also represented in the Sector through our subsidiaries, which supplies stay and experiences of a high quality. The Tourist Sector is a vital area for growth - not just for us – for the Greenlandic community” the Chairman adds.
During 2014 Air Greenland worked to develop the Company’s strategy based on new market conditions and an expected increase in competition. Going forward the Company will incessantly continue purposefully to ensure a strong competitiveness in the field of commercial aviation.
