14 August, 2018

Air Mauritius starts weekly operations to Wuhan, China as from Saturday 11 August 2018. Flight MK690 departs from Mauritius at 09.20 on Saturdays and arrives in Wuhan at 00.10. The return flight MK691 departs from Wuhan at 02.10, and arrives in Mauritius on Sundays at 08.40 (all timings local).

The Wuhan route is served by an Airbus A340 in a 34 business class and 264 economy class configuration.

Air Mauritius will operate as a charter on this route with committed high load factors. The company started operations to China in July 2011 with a weekly flight to Shanghai. Air Mauritius now serves the Chinese market through its hubs in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore. In addition to Wuhan, it also operates charter flights on Chengdu.

“We are expecting high load factors from Wuhan, which will constitute a significant boost for tourist arrivals from China. This is a high potential market within which we are constantly exploring new opportunities. It is in line with our vision to leverage on our strategic position between Asia and Africa, to capture the growing flux of traffic between the two continents.” stated Somas Appavou, CEO of Air Mauritius.
