Air Serbia, the national carrier of the Republic of Serbia, has been awarded the highest rating for the year 2018 of all the airlines in the region after a careful evaluation performed by the one-stop airline safety and product rating agency AirlineRatings.com. Alongside being awarded the highest seven-star safety rating, the Serbian national airline was also given five stars for its overall product and service, making it the highest rated airline of Southeast Europe.

“The result achieved is the best indicator of continuous progress and improvement of services provided to our guests. Safety always comes first and the highest rating confirms our commitment to that principle. We will continue to improve our offer in the coming period. We are certain that we will have an even better product despite strenuous market circumstances", Air Serbia's General Manager Commercial Dragana Frantov Nikolić stated.

The evaluation of Air Serbia's safety record and service quality by the AirlineRatings.com portal is accompanied by words of praise by the portal's Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas, who shed light on the Serbian national carrier's rich history.

"Air Serbia has been part of Serbia's economic heartbeat since it was formed. The airline has a very modern fleet of Airbus and ATR aircraft and operationally is now up there with the very best", Thomas said.

AirlineRatings.com analyzes reports by aviation regulatory bodies and leading sectoral associations. The conclusions are drawn using results of governmental oversight, as well as documents that airlines provide to relevant authorities. The evaluation entails IOSA certification, USA FAA endorsement, fleet age and condition, fatality record, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) rating of the country of origin, and other parameters. Besides Air Serbia, the portal also evaluated the following carriers from the region - Croatia Airlines, Adria Airways, Montenegro Airlines, Wizz Air, Aegean Air, Tarom and Bulgaria Air.
