Air Serbia is No. 1

image
4 November, 2020

According to the data of John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 4 in New York for September 2020, Air Serbia is the number one airline when it comes to passenger load factor on flights to the Big Apple with the result of 67%. At the Terminal 4 of the highest-traffic NY airport, known as the Gate to America, as it represents the main entrance into the country for international visitors, the Serbian national airline is sharing the first place with Dutch company KLM. In the second place are Etihad and Egypt Air, and in the third is Asiana.

"We are very satisfied with the achieved results, which are a good indicator that, despite the coronavirus pandemic, the flight to New York is operating well and represents one of the strongest Air Serbia routes. The U.S. is a very important market which is available to Serbia and the entire Southeast Europe thanks to us as the only airline in the region with a scheduled direct flight over the Atlantic. According to the data of the NY airport, we are at the top of the list in terms of On-time Performance as well, i.e. take-offs of planes up to 15 minutes from the planned take-off time," said George Petković, VP Americas, Air Serbia.

Air Serbia is currently operating two flights a week to New York, on Thursdays and Saturdays. In the period from 14 December to 4 January, the plan is to operate an additional flight on Mondays, while additional flights on Fridays will be operated on 18 December and 1 January 2021. Together with the planned additional flights, the national airline will be operating up to four flights to New York in the period around Christmas and New Year holidays. Since the re-establishment of the air link with the United States on 6 June until 28 October, Air Serbia had operated 71 flights to New York and carried 26,121 passengers. Belgrade-New York flights are operated by the biggest aircraft in the Air Serbia fleet, Airbus A330, named after legendary Serbian scientist and inventor Nikola Tesla.
