7 July, 2021

The Binter airline today inaugurated the operation with the Italian city of Venice, with a flight that took off from the Gran Canaria Airport at 10.20 am. This was the last inaugural flight of the company to its new European destinations, which began last day 1 with the cities of Lille, Marseille, Toulouse and Turin.

The opening ceremony with the Italian city was attended by the delegate of the Government of Spain in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana; the director of the Gran Canaria Airport, Julio Peñalver, and the Commercial and Marketing director of Binter, Miguel Ángel Suárez, who made the traditional ribbon cutting that represents the beginning of the air route.

Miguel Ángel Suárez expressed his satisfaction after concluding the opening of the company's five new direct connections to Italy and France, with which Binter seeks to continue improving the connectivity of the Archipelago. “Today we are inaugurating all our new routes to European destinations, with great enthusiasm and with the confidence that they will be attractive to everyone, because, in both directions, visitors can find an infinite number of plans, for all tastes. Furthermore, we hope that these new connections will continue to promote cultural exchange between all territories ”.

Suárez stressed that the Canarian company will continue working to promote, according to its strategic plan, all those initiatives that represent a firm commitment to the recovery of the Islands after the pandemic. "With these routes we want, not only to improve connectivity for the Canaries, but also to promote tourism, especially to attract visitors, Italians and French, thus diversifying the markets that are usually source of tourists", details the Commercial and Director of Canarian airline marketing.

In this sense, he also made mention of the tenth national route that Binter started last Thursday with Tarragona, to link the Canary Islands with Reus Airport twice a week on a direct flight.

For his part, the Government delegate in the Canary Islands pointed out that this type of lines, which connect the Canary Islands with other European regions, provide, above all, comfort and have access to the European continent at reasonable prices. In addition, he also highlighted Binter's commitment to bring tourism from these destinations to the Canary Islands, and expressed his desire for the initiative to be consolidated and successful.

On these new routes, Binter will offer passengers, free of charge, the connection with their flights to different Canary Islands in order to facilitate more complete connectivity.

Special onboard service

On the occasion of the inauguration of these routes, on the company's flights to French and Italian cities, as well as on the connection with Tarragona, passengers have received special details on board. In the case of flights to Italy, some typical cookies from this country, called 'Bacio di Dama', have been distributed. On flights to the Canary Islands, the passenger has received a Canarian banana and a cloth bag with the image of the company.

Flights to Binter's new destinations are carried out with the five new Embraer aircraft, model E195-E2, the quietest, cleanest and most efficient single-aisle jet aircraft in its class; with a configuration that allows more space between rows and the comfort of not having a seat in the middle. Added to this are other differential advantages of the product offered by Binter, such as its characteristic quality on-board service, which includes courtesy catering during the flight.

18 direct weekly flights between the Canary Islands and the new European destinations
