Cyprus Airways honoured for enriching local tourism product
Cyprus Airways has been awarded for its efforts to enrich the local tourism product, winning an honorary accolade at the Cyprus Tourism Awards 2020, held at Nicosia’s Lemon Park on Wednesday, September 23. The Cypriot air carrier scooped the Bronze award in the ‘Strategy and Innovation’ category, for its offering and accessibility enhancement, as well as its initiatives to extend the tourist season while positively enhancing the local tourism product.
Valentina Bukreeva, Chief Commercial Officer of Cyprus Airways, stated: “We are delighted and honoured to receive this prestigious award. This year was an unprecedented one for our sector, as we were forced to face very difficult obstacles due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As the situation is still constantly evolving, we need to be vigilant in order to respond to any future opportunities in the best possible way. This award exemplifies our continuous efforts to attract new tourism, expanding the travel options for Cypriots, and enriching Cyprus’ tourism product, therefore contributing to the local economy.”
Organised for the second year running, the Cyprus Tourism Awards aim to highlight best practices, high quality services and innovative initiatives in the tourism sector. This year’s award categories included ‘Strategy and Innovation’, ‘Hotels and Resorts’, ‘Travel Offering, Destinations - Tourist Attractions’, ‘Digital Tourism’, ‘Branding/PR/Media/People/Strategy’, and ‘Sustainability/Corporate Social Responsibility’. The award nominations were evaluated by an independent judging committee, comprising renowned professionals in the industry, from both Cyprus and abroad.
