EL AL Airlines Continues on its New Path
EL AL is continuing to make strategic developments and expansion updates to provide a better service to its passengers following the announcement last year of its embarking on a new era.
The initial stage of its recent changes was in August 2017 with the announcement of the acquisition of 16 Boeing Dreamliner 787s with an investment of over $1.25 billion. The first of the world’s most advanced aircraft started operating flights in September 2017 to Europe, joining EL AL’s fleet of new 737-900s already operating on short hauls to Europe. The Dreamliner 787s are to be gradually phased in and by 2020 the arrival of the aircraft will be completed.
The Dreamliner experience is similar to a hotel with wings, boasting comfort, fresh air, humidity, daylight and complementary lighting. The acquisition will provide an excellent service for all its passengers on its European and long-haul services to North America and the Far East. Also offering many operational advantages and known as highly efficient and economical in fuel consumption, utilisation and maintenance, the acquisition enables EL AL to expand on its long-haul network.
Following its expansion announcement of Boston to its North America route network in 2015, EL AL added a Miami service in November 2017. A San Francisco service was also announced earlier this year making it EL AL’s sixth destination in North America - also New York (JFK and Newark), Los Angeles and Toronto. The network expansion allows passengers to enjoy a variety of options to reach their destination at competitive prices, providing greater connectivity throughout North America.
Besides its network and fleet expansion, EL AL recently introduced a new pricing model for Economy Class tickets to European destinations. The new model is based on 3 different fares: Classic, Flex, Lite which enables passengers to customise their flight package according to their requirements and fly at attractive prices. Passengers are already able to purchase tickets according to the new model for flights departing from mid October 2018.
