MA retains its position as the leading air carrier in Montenegro
The Montenegrin national air carrier, Montenegro Airlines, carried a total of 626,297 passengers in all three categories of traffic in 11 months of 2019. This is 14,337 or 2.5% more passengers than last year, which was record high by all indicators.
These data support the fact that MA will realize the planned plan, and in 2019 it will carry more than 660,000 passengers in all three traffic categories, which will exceed the last year's record when 645,000 passengers were transported.
"At a time when we are intensively pursuing our preparations for next season, the successful year we are slowly leaving behind us and the commercial results we have achieved are a great impetus for all that awaits us. There remains one extremely difficult year for us, with turbulent events. in the market, rising costs in the aviation industry in general and other aggravating circumstances that have led to the bankruptcy of several major European airlines. , with the understanding and support from the owners, overcame all the problems and obstructions, and achieved, as it turns out, a record result, "said Zivko Banjevic, Executive Director of MA.
He pointed out that MA will retain its position as a leading airline, despite the fact that the number of airlines opening regular and charter flights on a seasonal or year-round basis to Montenegro is constantly increasing, and that in 2019 the national airline will translate more than a quarter of the total number of passengers at Montenegrin airports.
"Considering the fact that part of the MA's revenue, which amounts to between EUR 70 million and EUR 80 million annually, remains in Montenegro, as well as the fact that MA transports more than a quarter of the tourists who come to Montenegro for tourism, business, etc., it turns out that The total contribution of MA to the entire Montenegrin economy is more than 150 million euros annually, and it should be emphasized that the positive effects of MA's business activities do not only relate to revenues to the state economy primarily in tourism, but also to the number of jobs and crafts in industry that directly support tourism development, "Banjevic said.
