Phased Easing of Travel Restrictions
The Government of Mauritius has announced the phased easing of travel restrictions. As from 01 October 2020, borders will be opened to Mauritian nationals, residents and to tourists travelling for long stays.
Following this announcement, Air Mauritius is opening for sales two weekly flights from Paris and one weekly flight from Reunion in October 2020.

Travel exigencies and required documents for passengers travelling to Mauritius
All prospective passengers (including children and infants) travelling to Mauritius for the month of October 2020 must possess the following documents:
- A certificate of a negative PCR test administered not more than 7 days prior to the date of embarkation
- A valid air ticket to Mauritius
- A proof of purchase of a travel package including accommodation, on full board basis, at a designated hotel for a mandatory 14-day in-room quarantine

Attention is drawn to the fact that:
- Any arriving passenger will have to undergo PCR tests on day of arrival, on day 7 and on day 14 following arrival
- If a PCR test reveals that a person is COVID-19 positive, he/she shall be transferred to a public medical institution for treatment
PCR COVID-19 Test Certificate
Passengers must undergo a COVID-19 PCR test not more than 7 days before travelling. Only passengers whose tests are negative will be allowed to board flights to Mauritius. The original PCR COVID-19 certificate must be presented at check-in, boarding and upon arrival.
Quarantine Accommodation Package
Upon arrival in Mauritius, a 14-day in-room quarantine will be mandatory in a hotel approved by the authorities. A quarantine accommodation package is available online for passengers which would include, among others, accommodation on a full board basis for the 14-day in room quarantine.

Sanitary measures
The sanitary safety of travellers and of the Mauritian public is a topmost priority. Protocols following international best practice will be in force on board the aircraft, at the airport, for airport transfers, at quarantine locations and thereafter at hotels and all other public places.

Passengers will also be subject to temperature checks at the airport of departure and at the airport of arrival.
Baggage
Information on your baggage allowance is included on your ticket.
- Cabin baggage is limited to one piece weighing not more than 7 kg
- To help limit contact between carry-on baggage items, your cabin baggage should include only the necessary essential items such as laptops, handbag, briefcase, and baby items
- Note that no single baggage weighing more than 32 kg will be accepted at check in
- Should you be a Kestrelflyer Gold or Silver cardholder, you are eligible for one additional piece of 20 kg on presentation of your membership card
At the airport of departure
With all the health safety and precautionary measures in place, the check-in and boarding processes are expected to take longer. Passengers are therefore advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to their scheduled flight departure time.
Wearing of masks
It is mandatory for all passengers above 11 years old to wear only surgical masks from the time they reach the airport of departure to the time they leave SSR International airport which includes boarding, the entire flight and deplaning.
Typically, you should provide for one mask for every 4 hours. Please ensure that you carry a sufficient number of masks for the entire duration of your flight, from the time you reach the airport of departure to the time you leave SSR International airport.
Passengers who do not fulfil all the requirements above will not be allowed to board flights to Mauritius.
Onboard
- Passengers are requested to adhere to strict sanitary hygiene onboard
- Used masks should not be left in seat pockets, on the seats or anywhere else in the cabin. Same should be disposed of in the lavatory waste bins only or be kept in your bag
