SpiceJet flags off daily direct flight between Surat and Delhi

SpiceJet, the country’s favourite low-cost carrier, announces the launch of its twin daily direct flight services on the Delhi – Surat – Delhi route with traditional flag-off and lamp-lighting ceremonies at the Surat Airport.

With ‘regional connectivity’ as the macro theme, the airline has been rendering constant focus on the agenda while undertaking network expansions. The new flight is a part of SpiceJet’s enhanced summer schedule and will further augment its connectivity in the domestic sector.

SpiceJet’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft SG 473 which took-off from Delhi with honourable Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mr. Jayant Sinha and Mr. Ajay Singh along with the other key dignitaries onboard, was greeted with a grand water cannon salute upon its arrival at Surat.

The inaugural ceremony at Surat was graced by Shri Jayant Sinha Honourable Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Smt. Darshana Ben Jardosh, Honourable Member of Parliament from Surat, Shri C.R. Patil, Honourable Member of Parliament from Navsari, Smt Asmitaben Siroya Honourable Mayor of Surat, Shri Prabhubhai Vasava, MLA Bardoli, Shri Nitin Bhajiyawala President of BJP Surat City and respected citizens of Surat. The launch was initiated with the customary lamp lighting ceremony by all dignitaries marking the formal announcement of the launch of SG 474 Surat to Delhi flight. The ceremony finally came to a conclusion with Shri Jayant Sinha, Smt Darshana Ben Jardosh, Shri C.R. Patil, AAI Officials flagging-off the flight from the Surat Airport. Earlier in the day the first boarding pass was handed over to the first passenger by Shri C R Patil and Shri Pramod Kumar Thakre Airport Director Surat.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Ajay Singh – CMD, SpiceJet said, “SpiceJet is proud to connect Surat, one of the fastest growing cities of the world known for diamonds and textiles, with the national capital. Surat is a fine example of how infrastructural support can boost growth in the country. We are thrilled with the response that our flights have received. Our twice daily flights will offer immense flexibility to the corporate and leisure travelers on the SpiceJet network.”
