Tap Was The Most Punctual Airline At The Lisbon Hub In March
In terms of punctuality in March, TAP Air Portugal led the field of European airlines that most frequently used Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport.
After a very good start to 2019, with record punctuality rates for the company, TAP emerged as the most punctual of all European airlines that make frequent use of the Lisbon Hub, despite having a more complex operation of connections and with more flights each day than all of the other airlines operating at Lisbon Airport.
After securing second place in this list in January and February – trailing the first-placed airline by five and two percentage points, respectively – TAP moved into the top spot with a punctuality rate of 83%, three percentage points ahead of the second-placed airline.
These results are a reflection of the company’s investment in this area in 2018 and 2019. The implementation of new boarding procedures, self check-in terminals, increases in the number of operational staff at the airport and the efforts and dedication of the staff, as well as the decision to hold three aircraft in reserve (to minimise the effects of unforeseen events) and other measures, have all contributed to this result.
It should be noted that the aviation industry uses the D15 indicator, which means a flight is considered punctual if it up to 15 minutes later than scheduled.
Average overall punctuality during the first quarter was 83%.
TAP continues to work and invest to hold its position at the top of the list this summer, a period that is usually very challenging given the significant increase in the number of operations.
